General Assembly met on the Santa Cruz County Courthouse Water Street steps.

Decided by unanimous consent to relax the rules of process for the duration of the meeting.

News and Announcements

The SF Chronicle reported that the most searched term on Google by San Franciscans for 2011 was “Santa Cruz”. The most read item from that search was a job listing for repair work on the tsunami damaged small craft harbor. It was hoped that in 2012 the most SF searched term will be “Santa Cruz” and that the most read article will be about Occupy.

HUFF (Humans United for Friendship and Freedom) announced that there will be a regular meeting at Joe’s Pizza and Subs on Wed 28Dec2011 at 10AM.

The DIY Last Day Parade will be held Sat 31Dec2011. Meet at 5PM near Saturn Cafe.

Agenda

General discussion about creating a chronology of Occupy Santa Cruz for 2011 and creating a display of pictures of police brutality and the elected officials true attitude toward homeless people.

A proposal to wish everyone happy holidays on Xmas Day was blocked as a protest of corporate commercialization of the holidays.

Street Theater working group led a discussion about Occupy Santa Cruz’s participation in the DIY Last Day Parade.

Occupy Santa Cruz General Assembly for Mon 26Dec2011 day 83 was held at 6PM on the Santa Cruz County Courthouse Water Street steps.

A visitor from OccupySF distributed flyers for Occupy Wall Street West to occupy the San Francisco Financial District on Friday 20 January 2012. For more information visit OccupyWallStWest.org or OccupySF.org

Agenda

Admiration of the new surveillance camera domes with the shiny new conduits. There was speculation of the capabilities of the new cameras. Do they have night vision? High-definition? Remote control with zoom? It is good to know that the County Authorities are watching and looking out for our health and safety.

General discussion of Friday 20Jan2012 the Nationwide Day of Occupation of the Courts. The visitor from Occupy Oakland said they are planning an action. OccupySF is doing their Occupy Wall St West.

Emergency Announcement: The meeting lasted beyond the 7PM curfew on assembly and free speech. The meeting continued as an act of civil disobedience.

General discussion of Corporate Personhood. The Occupy The Courts protest on Fri 20Jan2012 is on the eve of the US Supreme Court ruling in favor of Citizens United giving corporations the rights of people. Discussed the history of corporations from the 19th century when corporations were limited in duration and scope to only specific public works projects — to the present day where corporations live forever and have been granted the rights of people. The meeting was adjourned with the next meeting to be held Mon 26Dec2011 at 6PM at the same place.

Working groups moved to India Joze, 418 Front St., where it was warm and had bathrooms.
