[1-6-2012] I’ve been away from GA’s a coupla daze out of 80 or so to recharge. Another OSC er said some money was granted from the OSC treasury at today’s GA to help finance someone’s trip to DC. I would have given it a thumbs down. As for my not being there, it is what it is and a big bunch of expletives to any smartass comfy with the disenfranchisement of my voice. Unless it was a loan, it sets a memorable precedent… The reason I would have thumbs down is simple. Legal defense. That’s where I think any undesignated liquidity should go right now….Taking everything into consideration, I’m willing to calmly listen to any reasons why not….
Update: [cc:d from FB]
Some OSC members are seeking to raise traveling funds to go to DC for the occupy congress and the courts activity from 1-17 to 1-20. Tomorrow 1-8-12 they will have a donation table set up on Pacific Ave across from the Cinema 9 from 4:30 to 8 P.M
As well, typing for myself only, I disagree with anyone using the OSC treasury for financing personal indulgences to travel great distances at this critical point in our occupy efforts. It makes me sad that some think it’s okay taking our common funds to leave the backs of OSC family members exposed who may seek asistance and funds for imminent legal defense…
Right or wrong, I think family is more important than kissing distant politician ass, etc. A fix could be that the $300 taken from the treasury would be considered a trusting loan to be paid back as soon as possible. More sadly, I know any balker would be no friend of mine….

They’e out on Pacific right now, raising consciousness and razing [snicker] funds.
What makes you think they got money from the treasury? And if you don’t know if they did, why the demeaning histrionics about “The Other”, ie;
…As in those “other” people with other potential uses for the money. Not that I don’t agree with you on the use of funds, but you’re whining about something that’s unverified.
Could it be that old “He who whines the loudest gets their way” child-like behavior I’ve come to expect and despise so much from so-called progressives and liberals acted out in a vacuum?
It helps to be at GAs. I’m positive I’ve been to more of them than anyone else in OSC….After 80 days plus, if anyone cares that I’m a human being, I was finally too burned out to show up….That’s doesnt mean my voice and opinion are invalid…As to your post, if I am correct half our undesignated treasury funds were confirmed today to be spent by a frequent non GA, etc. attending minority on a DC trip without prior notice or consideration..
Even though I am in this instance opposed to OSC paying out of its own treasury for it, I’m sure it will be a lovely exciting field trip too many others who actually did shitwork at OSC better deserved.
I think kissing politican ass and recognising by expensive personal presence the politicians represent and speak for the people on a hierarchial basis is not action in our interest.. It is a personal choice and counter to our core values. I don’t think Occupy family should bankrupt itself spending assets on anyone’s personal selfish enthusiasm to do so. I was not informed using OSC money was considered for this purpose It is not in my voice or consent. Each voice having all information possible and a say is a core value.
If local family is left vulnerable for lack to meet immediate expenses by this treasury raid, it will fail family and indicates carelessness is preferential to solidarity….I stand with family and friends who are there for me as I would be for them…..
My bad editing. Please omit the following sentences:..”I was not informed using OSC money was considered for this purpose It is not in my voice or consent. Each voice having all information possible and a say is a core value.”
:
You’re STILL whining about something that apparently didn’t happen, and IF someone does it on their own, it’s just none of your fucking business. Got that?
No. It happened, I verified it. I’m only concerned in the OSC treasury, nothing else. A little rough with your netiqette there….I do ignore such anonymous alien bs and or/orders, eiher one, take your pick..Have a nice day!
!
Good call, John. Mr. Pseudonym has LOTS to learn, re netiquette.
Are you saying the people got the money?
If not… It’s moot, and you’re whining.
Wrong again.
i saw the GA sunday leigh. that money was LOOTED from the treasury by abuse of the process. a lot of people did not want that money spent that way. but since it was “consensed” at an earlier, poorly attended GA, tom and the other moderates felt it needed a 90% consensus to stop it. but norse phrazed his proposal as “should we continue to allow this money to be spent this way” and then blocked his own proposal. the block was not dealt with, in fact, the moderates tried to claim it was too late for a proposal.
apending the money was blocked by norse,
therefore that money was stolen by the moderates, through their usual practise of redefining the process.
very similar to how the 1% steals from the rest of us by controling the political process.
I hope you can come to a GA and help support some participatory discovery about this matter.
you got scammed JBK. the process is corrupt. demand the money back or block continuously. consensus is a core value of OSC and you didn’t consense to that use of money.
also block any of the facilitators at either of the 2 meetings from ever being facilitators again.
this kind of corruption is far worse than anything that happened at 75river.
i left OSC long ago because of the corruption of the process. morally, i can’t participate with thieves.
DontGive, Who got the money?
Anyone?
Did the ‘treasury actually HAVE money to give?
Even 20 bucks?
Last I know almost all of it had been spent on legal fees.
…and btw… JBK REPRESENTS the so-called ‘moderate’ (reformer) element.
…and Neil Mick is still a homeless hating troll, representing the persuasion one sees on the Santa Cruz Sentinel forums speaking for Take Back Santa Cruz.
Ooh, the anonymous troll calls me a “troll.”
Me feewings are so hurt.
Pot. Kettle. Black.
Coward.
PS If you’re the same moron who regularly called for “violent revolution (as at the only Guerrilla Drive In shown at the Courthouse),” and yet “hardly had the time” to attend most GAs…I consider your ad hominem’s a compliment.
I personally know that you put off several folks from joining the Movement. Add to it your petty gossip about OCHAaT, and you’re little better than a useful idiot for the Right.
Good work, tool.

Try looking up some of my posts on the Sentinel, genius: THEN tell me I’m some sort of “homeless hating troll.”
I am an older lady battling chronic pain and breast cancer, and so cannot participate in person on any kind of regular basis. However, I would like to donate what I can to this cause, in the hopes that we can actually change things. I also have questions that I think are important like:
1. How exactly are we going to get our democracy back from the current ruling corporatocracy (Republicans and Democrats). We need true independent options for the 99%, and I don’t mean (racist) Ron Paul. I would rather write in Mickey Mouse than vote for anyone that is going to be on the ballot, including President Obama, who basically has already been bought (along with the Democratic Party), as evidenced by the huge bailout with no accountability required, to the very people who caused the financial melt down in the first place…. DUH! I really do not understand why people do not see this!
2. Why are not all these bank presidents, and corporate CEO’s who have pillaged this country, in prison, along with the WAR CRIMINALS, Bush, Cheney, et al, who so enriched themselves with the blood of many thousands of innocents????
At this point I really feel like voting is a joke, because there really is no democracy in Washington DC or any of our state capitols anymore. Our lawmakers, judges and leaders are all owned by huge wealthy corporations, and are making laws only to benefit them, not the people.
Yes, I am mad, and want to do something to fight back. It is hard to believe that anyone can buy any of this bull….. being touted by any of these politicians, including the President. Sorry, but that’s just how I feel, based upon what I see happening in Washington, and how they are all in bed with Wall Street, even, and especially Mr. Obama.
No need to apologize, Eileen. I think we all feel the same way.
Eileen Davis Fawcett: Thanks very much for your input! I appreciate it. First of all typing for myself, dear lady, by all means please keep your donation to take care of yourself…
I think what people decide to do re: Potomac fever season is a personal thing for ones conscience only. As I do for anyone, I encourage you to review our statement of autonomy in the upper right hand side of the main page…
In my opinion, I would prefer all the partisans and their workers or volunteers would distance themselves from sheeple fishing the Occupy movement to feed their political ambitions. Also, I think much of the time that world promises a lot but delivers less of it to nothing at all as a result.
I’m interested in building a local nongovernment alternative based on nonviolent constructive principles and social community of equals, etc.
I hope you will continue to send us your concerns as we believe everyone has a voice in OSC… As always,
not sure who got the money leigh. it was $300 to go to Occupy Washington. just another example of corrupt government, even a small assembly of regular people out to fight against big government corruption can unwittingly engage in corruption themselves. there was no consensus to spend that money that way that day. there was even a block against it. the person who got it should show some integrity and give the money back.
i hear there is still another $300 up for grabs in the treasury. leigh, if you can get a faction together for another low turn out GA, you could get $300 to go to Washington too.
…or perhaps he could send it off to his friends, the Koch Brothers? At the very least, it would be far more efficient.
I’ve been to Washington thanks… In the winter of the year the US invaded Laos and Cambodia during the Vietnam war.
I wasn’t there to lobby.
I had the opportunity to be tear gassed, chased by large numbers of police officers who never did manage to catch me, met LOTS of really nice locals, and had the good fortune to be able to occasionally warm my hands over a burning police scooter or pile of wooden police barricades.
Ahhh. Nostalgia.
I can’t wait till that kind of action comes to MY town!
No doubt. I hear that a martyr complex is rampant in the activist community. Do you have to take pills for that?
dontDonateToOSC, when you have a “democracy” where the loudest mouths get to be heard above others, you end up with a ‘democracy’ consisting of hustlers and opportunistic culturally normalized sociopaths.
You should know.
Yeah… I’ve had the ‘pleasure’ of meeting YOU Neil!
Grow up. It’s way past time to be acting like you’re 12.
ROTF…
…is pretty much what 12 year olds say when they have nothing else to add.
I love the layout of this site, re this conversation. No truer visual representation of a virtual pissing match could be made, if it were photographed.
Get a life, troll. Your conversations here usually go in one direction…runny, yellow, and the same as gravity.
